According to historical accounts, the instrument is said to have been played once by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy during a small concert organised by the Leipzig Liedertafel at the Hohnstädt manor (see: ‘Der Rundblick’, Vol. 6, 1959, No. 2, p. 99, Renate Sturm-Francke, Grimma).
