This square piano was made by Charles Pommer in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania around 1826. Charles Pommer emigrated from Halberstadt, Germany, arriving in Philadelphia in 1811. He also made guitars and violins and in 1835 took over the Bushhill Hotel in Philadelphia, and advertised the hotel in Die Alte und Neue Welt, a Philadelphia German-language paper. This piano has a compass of FF-c4, Viennese action, leather (?) hammers, double-string, first 6 wound, with tuning pins on the right, 4 pedals: moderator, unknown action, dampers, and Janissary, wood frame, and a rosewood case
