Upright Piano by Stadeler, J-G

Jean-Guillaume Stadeler, originally from Düsseldorf, came to Brussels to establish his piano workshop, which quickly became very successful. At the expo’s of 1835, 1841 and 1847 his upright pianos received a silver medal. The design of these pianos is somewhat peculiar. In the world of pianos, this type is called a ‘console model’. The French maker Pape was the pioneer. The oblique strings made it possible to limit the height of the upright piano.
