Attribution based on the extremely similar instrument at Fenton House, signed Marcus Siculus and dated 1540. Marcus Siculus translates from Latin as "Mark of Sicily" Three instruments by this maker survive, of a very high level of craftsmanship.
Compass: GG/BB-c3 short octave
Polygonal case of cypress, inner-outer case construction (outer case missing), the keyboard of boxwood and stained boxwood (sharps). Delicate scrolls at each end of both bridges. Stained wooden double-ended scrolls framing keyboard.
