Upright Piano by Steinway

This late 19th-century upright piano has a case veneered in rosewood, with decorative fluted columns and mouldings. The front board is embellished with a central marquetry floral motif, with a moulded panel at either end. It has unichord stringing from A2 to F♯1, bichord stringing from G1 to B flat, and trichord stringing from B to c5. The overwound strings run from from A2 to B♭. According to the Pierce Piano Atlas, the Steinway serial numbers for 1896 begin at 85000 and for 1898 at 90000. Consequently, this instrument, which has a serial number of 89723 may be assigned a date of c1897
